So I went to Japan and took all these pics for y'all - I had a big feature planned - and then a Northwest Airlines baggage handler went and stole my luggage. All my photos were gone (along with my souveniers, roller blades, clothes, etc). Three months later my luggage was found in an abandoned barn in the middle of Minnesota, only my socks and these kids food magazines were left and they smelled like cow poo. But damn-it, I was going to do a Japanese feature so here it is, haiku poems about Japanese kids' lunches: "Crazy Happy Lunch!"

　下関ふく連盟（会長、松村久・下関唐戸魚市場社長）が宮家に届ける「献上ふく」の調理風景が２０日、今年の担当業者のなかお（下関市彦島西山町２丁目）で公開された。　　 　宮家へのフグ献上は、昭和天皇が亡くなった８９年を除き、８８年から毎年この時期に行われている。２０回目の今年は秋篠宮、三笠宮など皇族６宮家に届けられる。 　今回はフグ調理歴３７年目の坂本康洋さん（５８）が腕をふるった。萩市の見島沖で水揚げされた約２キロの天然トラフグを使用。直径３３センチの有田焼の青磁の皿に、薄いあめ色の刺し身を一枚一枚丁寧に「菊盛り」にしていった。坂本さんは「（菊盛りの）花びらがきれいにみえるように気を使った。今年は寒いので肉質がいい」と話した。 　献上用のフグは２１日午前に調理され、同日午後、松村会長や江島潔市長らが同行して各宮家に届ける。
